Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale video
I was driving down the road the other day and noticed the beautiful changing colors of Fall. This is one of my favorite times of year, and the amazing color is one reason why. I find it amazing how the leaves turn just about every shade of red, orange, and yellow and come together to form this awesome color palette. I think the beauty of the changing seasons is one of God’s creative gifts to us.
It got me thinking. You know, we go through seasons of life too that play a big role in our spiritual development.
Unfortunately, a lot of times, we think that our “season” of life has to be just right in order for us to grow spiritually (some day I’ll have time for….). But the reality is that no matter what season of life we are in, we have the opportunity to experience spiritual growth. Don’t think of your current season in life as a barrier, see it as an opportunity. Just as we only get to see the colors of Fall once a year, see the season of your life as a limited time opportunity to connect with God in a whole new way.
So what is the current season of your life? Are you working mother? A young father? A retired grandparent? A student? Single? Newlywed?
Determine where you are in life and take a look at how you can connect with God in a unique way that recognizes the season as a gift not a barrier. God meets us where we are at, because that is the only place we are. Don’t think about how once you get this or that done and out of the way then you will get connected with God. Connect with Him right where you are. For example, if you are a stay at home mother how can you make the work of caring for children and family an experience of growth with God? How does this time in your life offer you special opportunities and unique experiences in which you can connect with God and grow in Christ?
So, as you see the leaves changing colors take some time to talk with God about the season of life that He has you in. As John Ortberg says, “instead of wishing we were in another season, we ought to find out what this one offers.” So let’s go into the seasons of life and discover the beauty and opportunity that awaits us.
